Hockey has a long history in Newark and the club has built up proud traditions of sportsmanship and friendliness that present day teams continue to uphold. The club currently runs 8 league teams, 4 mens and 4 ladies, competing across the midlands.

New players are always welcome so if you are a current player looking for a new team, a former player who is thinking about returning to the game or are just interested in trying hockey for the first time please get in touch or pop down to training.

Olympic GOLD for GB Women by Arran Coggan

Unless you've been living in a cave, you will have seen Team GB bring home a truck full of medals. And more importantly the GB women's hockey team take GOLD with an historic win over The Netherlands.

The team are the first GB side since 1988 to secure an Olympic title, when the Men did the same feat in Seoul.

Newark ladies, consisting of a mixture of Ladies 1s & 2s players, are in 2nd place after the league matches, with Brigg HC standing in their way to reach the Championship final.

Calling all players, parents, spectators, cats, dogs and any one I've missed!

It's that time of year when we start thinking about our coaches for next season. If you are interested in helping out please let us know. This can be in the form of a team coach, junior coach or just being around to lend a hand. All training this year for seniors will be on a Wednesday night with Juniors on a Sunday Morning.

What are Back to Hockey sessions?
Back to Hockey sessions are coached sessions for men and women who may not have played hockey for a
long period of time or who are looking to try the sport for the first time.

We all had a good night yesterday at the end of season presentation.

Thank you all for coming, and celebrating the year. Makes it all worthwhile to see some many people turn up and be involved. The casino particularly went down well.

Somehow Jack McMunn won the most amount of dollars at the casino, and therefore claims the top prize of free membership next year.

The Junior and Academy End of Season Fun Tournament, Presentation and BBQ took place on Sunday 24th April at the Magnus. After playing in the tournament and eating the BBQ lunch, awards were given out to the following players by their respective Coaches.

The U8's and beginners group were given medals and Club badges for their committment to training during the season.

Gifts were given to the Academy players who umpired this seasons Primary Schools League:

James Beedham, Ryan Parrett, Dominic Harris and Oli Jones.

Also to Jack McMunn, Charlotte Staniforth, Emil Liniewicz and Yasmine Owen for their help with the Juniors.

Parent Volunteers and all of the Coaches recieved a bottle of wine each to aid their recovery over the close season.

Anyone aged 13+ can take part in the spring/summer opportunities below. These activities will be eligible for support from the club. This includes pre-payment of fees if necessary. All activities will be covered by the club’s policies and insurance.

However, unless agreed with the Treasurer, payment and all organisation will be the responsibility of the “tournament captain” – who can be anyone. All activities will be covered by the club’s insurance and policies as long as the “tournament captain” has informed the Treasurer and/or Secretary that they will be playing under the banner of Newark Hockey Club.
