Latest Club News:
Raise some funds from your old clothesWe've signed up to Bag4Sport who buy unwanted clothes, clothes (inc paired shoes, belts, caps etc), bags, bed linen and soft toys from sports clubs. They then work with textile recyclers, who use them to provide affordable clothing in Eastern Europe and Africa.
So if you have any old clothes you don't want bag them up and bring them to training next Wednesday or bring to junior training on Sunday 5th Feb (9.30am-11am).
Very easy way to raise funds. The more clothes the more money we get. This is a Mens 3rd XI and Junior Boys fundraising event, so only the Mens 1s and 2s to go!
And any clothes not wanted by Bag4Sport we can give to Tim Mcmanus who needs a new style!

Level 1 coaching course
There is a Level 1 coaching course being held at Nottingham Trent University on Sunday 6th, Sunday 13th & Sunday 27th May 2012, 9am – 6pm on each day.
The County Hockey Development Officer has secured some funding to subsidise the cost of this course for participants who are a member of a club in Nottinghamshire, instead of £160 the course will cost just £80. In order to maximise this funding, the application process is now open for Nottinghamshire clubs only and will open to the rest of the Country on 31st January.
If interested you will need to complete the application form and send it back to Elaina Leithead at the Midlands Office with a cheque for £80 made payable to ‘Notts Hockey Schools and Youth’.
No guarantees but the club will look to support anyone interested, as long as you assist with the club's coaching sessions. See Arran for more details.

2012 off to a good start
2012 has started well for Newark Hockey Club, Father Christmas has delivered 3 presents...slightly late but never mind.
We have had not 1 but TWO funding bids approved. One from the Sportivate programme – a national scheme aimed giving 14-25 year olds access to six-week sports courses – and one from Nottinghamshire County Council’s Community Sports Fund. Both these grants will allow us to update some of our equipment and support our coaches who go into schools but ultimately get new people into the club.
The third good thing is our acceptance on the County Council’s Aspiring Clubs programme. The aim of the programme is to develop a number of identified clubs that wish to become stronger clubs of the future. We will be supported over a 12-18 month period to develop structures, business planning and knowledge, to help safeguard the future of the club. There is a core programme of training, plus an individually designed package of support for each club.
If anyone has any questions please speak to Arran, and we’ll keep you up to date on the progress of these. The future’s bright, the future’s....green (with a bit of red, white and blue!)
