Hockey has a long history in Newark and the club has built up proud traditions of sportsmanship and friendliness that present day teams continue to uphold. The club currently runs 8 league teams, 4 mens and 4 ladies, competing across the midlands.

New players are always welcome so if you are a current player looking for a new team, a former player who is thinking about returning to the game or are just interested in trying hockey for the first time please get in touch or pop down to training.

Presentation Night by Arran Coggan

As we starting looking towards the end of the season, we are preparing our presentation night to celebrate the club's achievements throughout the 2015/16 season.

There will be a casino, disco and hot buffet. The dress code is formal.

The date is 7 May 2016. Although some weeks off, the end of the playing season is close and tickets will be available to purchase from captains.

So after a couple of weeks battling the cold weather Newark should see a full schedule of fixtures this week.

 

With 5 matches at home beginning at 9:30am with the Ladies 3s followed by the Ladies 2s (11:00am) and Ladies 1s (12:30pm) then the Men’s 1s (2:00pm) and 3s (3:30pm)

 

Whilst the other 3 teams face trips away. Ladies 4s at West Bridgford at 9am (nice early start for them) with the Men’s 2s at Berkswell & Balsall Common (Coventry) at 1pm and the Men’s 4s travelling to Loughborough Town (1:3

Ladies 3rd XI win Team of the Year by Arran Coggan

Last night at training, the Ladies 3rd XI were given an earlier Christmas present.

During the 2014/15 season, the team won the league and the shield competition and were promoted in Division 1. As a result, the club nominated the team for a award in the annual Newark & Sherwood Sports Awards in the category of Team of the Year.

The club was notified that the panel were very impressed with the nomination and selected the team as the winner in the category!

Congratulations to the all players, coaches and supporters for the team. 

The club have been fortunate to win several awards, and also a few runners up, in the sports awards during the last few years and we thank Active4Today and Newark & Sherwood District Council for their continued support.

Sunday 20th December is the last training session before Christmas. You will all be playing a fun tournament. ??<br/><span class=Read More>>

Sunday 20th December is the last training session before Christmas. You will all be playing a fun tournament. ??

I would like you all, once again, to show your support to the club and pay £1 extra and wear your Christmas jumpers to training (hats are optional) and then have a go at "Guess the amount of sweets in the jar" and "Guess the name of the snowman".

There will be a prize for the following groups for the best jumper and you will notice the coaches are included as well so there is no escape for them either ??

* Under 10 Girls
* Under 8's
* Coaches

So come to training as normal at 10:30 am in your Christmas jumpers and pay £1 to play and have a go to see if you can win the jar of sweets or my homemade snowman!

U12 Boys NoDe at Boots by Tim Burch

Newark U12 Boys played their first U13 NoDe games on Sunday 18th October at Boots with the following results:

West Bridgford  2-1 Loss

Players 5-4 Win

Boots 3-1 Win

 

The Boys Played Very well with some great Hockey. The Squad were: Nathan Meppem GK, George Silver, Joshua Kent, Harry Chapman, Daniel Beeching, Sebastian Price, Hugo Price, Jake Thomas, Aaron Munro, Ben Huthwaite and Cameron Mclean.

U11 Girls and Boys play their first NoDe games of by Tim Burch

Both squads played their first games this Season in the Notts/Derby friendly league, in glorious sunshine, on Sunday 4th October. Visiting teams were: Ashfield, North Notts and Worksop.

All of our U10 boys got a chance to play and some of them took turns to make the numbers up for Worksop. The boys beat Worksop 3-0, Ashfield 2-1 and Newark girls 2-1. They lost to North Notts 1-0. Excellent performances by everyone especially as they were playing against U11 teams.

The Squad: Luke Crisp GK, Liam Dowson, Lukas Roberts, Jacob Knox, Lewis Parrett, Oscar Tunnicliffe, Charlie White, George Hobson, Max Wilkins, Joshua Thomas, Freddie Adcock, Ben Silver and Theo Thompson.

The girls Coaches had selected a mix of U11 and U10 players for their squad. They beat Worksop 1-0, drew again North Notts and Ashfield and lost against the boys. Once again some great performances from all concern.
The Squad: Harriet Chesters-Thompson GK, Evie Thompson, Freya Britten, Imogen Kennett, Kate Revill, Emma Germany, Breagha Parr, Megan Perkins, Lucy Bateman, Sophia Thandi-Radley and Emily Price
