Latest Juniors News:

New Year Newsletter

Welcome to the New Year newsletter from the Juniors Section of Newark Hockey Club. We currently have 14 U11 players in the squad and only 5 in the U13 squad. Our numbers are diminishing quite rapidly, so please ensure we have a poster up in your school and encourage any of your friends to come and join us. Any new members will be warmly welcomed.

All boys over 13 now train in a mixed squad, with Sally, at the Magnus on Sunday mornings between 0930 and
1100 (at the other end of the pitch to us).

TRAINING

We resume training on Sunday, 3rd January 2010 at 9.30am and the season will finish on Sunday, 25th April(17 weeks £30 or £3 per session).

Adverse Weather conditions: Raining or Snow and Ice on the pitch. We now have the ability to use the Sports Hall, if it is not in use, so please come to training unless it is cancelled by the Coaches.

MINI HOCKEY CHAMPIONSHIPS

This year England Hockey have changed the age groups for this competition to U10’s and U12’s, just when we were likely to win it! The date of the Mini’s, we believe, is March at Beeston Hockey Club, Highfields Sports Centre, University Boulevard, Nottingham. I will confirm the date and time when I get to know.

RED NOSE DAY

Red Nose Day 2010 is Friday, 19th March. Due to fixture commitments, we cannot hold a Red Nose Hockey Tournament on the following Sunday, so we intend to run it on Sunday, 7th March 2010. For those of you who have not participated in this before, we hold a special tournament whereby mums/dads/family members play a game against the boys. Everybody will pay £3 to take part, with all proceeds going to Comic Relief. We had a great time last year and raised £100. Appropriate clothing is required, i.e. red noses, big hair, anything RED really!!

HOCKEY KIT

All boys must have with them the following items of kit when they train and play:-

K&H Sports in Newark and Retford will provide 10% off all goods if you tell them you are a member of Newark Hockey Club.

REGISTRATION

All boys should be registered with Newark Hockey Club. If you are not sure whether you have registered, or your details have changed (i.e. address or phone number), please obtain a new form from the Club page.

HOCKEY ON THE INTERNET

Newark Hockey Club has a web site www.newarkhockeyclub.com where this News letter will be
posted. Information about County JACs can be found on www.nhdg.org.uk and our NODE league on www.nodehockey.org.uk

Finally, on behalf of the coaches, Paul and Sally, I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
