TRAINING

Good turnout of 2's and 3's (and eventually, 1's!!!) with enthusiastic warm-up bang on time for the majority! Thanks Sasha. As Sally had decided to take a 'trip', Amy and Craig stepped into the breach and got the 2's going. Danny decided to be react(aball) in his warm-up for the 3's, dragging in some 'honorary' girls to make up numbers - Scotty may have got away with it but James' hirsute visage (he has a beard!) ruined his disguise! Danny grabbed Jo almost as soon as she arrived for a more intimate conference - but probably only to wish her a Happy Birthday in advance of the weekend I hope!
Arran rather distracted everyone halfway through by trying to perform some sort of Gymnastic routine in the middle of the pitch ! I don't think he'll make the grade for the Olympics although he would give Jimbob and Amy a run for their money in the 'Tigger-like' bouncing category!!!! The 2's then joined the 1's for a game - Paul looking for emerging talent?? and the 3's (+ Honorary......etc. who could only pivot when they had the ball!) played each other.

REQUEST – Having seen the variety of base layers/body armour colours that have been on display recently, can I make a plea? Please try and get hold of RED ones as they look ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC under our GREEN shirts! Definitely more Sartorially Elegant than any other colour.

MATCH COMMENTS

Only the one match this weekend and I only have the match report to go on so I'm going to leave the previous weeks 'Pantomime' issue on for another week!
The 1's did not have a good week! However, while missing key players, it was a chance for others to experience 'life at the top'. Well done to Sasha for stepping up so well, and Katherine - who's rapidly becoming a fixture! Just a pity they had to go down to that particular team!

Soooo….. Pantomime week with the 3’s featuring in ‘Goldilocks and the 1 Bear’, and the 2’s featuring in ‘The Sleeping Beauty’ – although I have to say there are elements of both in each one! There is also a Cameo by a First Teamer in there somewhere! Read on to find out!!………

The 3’s arrived at for their ‘Early doors’ fixture at the Magnus, AFTER the opposition! Being serious for a second, with barely a half hour between the gates being opened and push back time, it would really be useful if home players arrived AT 9.00 – READY to start a warm-up! It took at least 15 minutes of the first half – and one opposition goal – before we really started to wake up and get organised! A fighting half-time talk from stand in Coach Jazzer, and Captain Jo, resulted in some really awesome team work in the second half. Unfortunately, not enough to change the result, but an indication of what the team can do. Jaz’s tactic for putting off the opposition by going round in circles caused some hilarity – especially when someone said she should suggest it to the Army as a tactic to confuse the enemy! Lizzie won a nomination for the Sartorial Elegance Award by wearing ear-muffs throughout the game. The only ‘benefit’ (apart from warm ears) being that she couldn’t hear Jo shouting at her. Jo also gets a nomination – 2 in fact – for her go-faster stripes on her RED base layer, and for accessorising her new First Aid kit!
I seem to have picked up another nickname - A.O.A.P – (I’ll leave you to work it out!), courtesy of Jaz, so I’m getting my own back by re-counting the (edited) story of Jaz’s ‘leaving do’ on Friday night where she played ‘Jazzer Bear’ to Lizzie’s ‘Goldilocks’ – “who’s been sleeping in MY bed???” It must have been a good ‘do’ as both Pantomime stars, fell asleep while waiting for the refreshments to arrive!

The 2nd’s were away at the University and sporting our RED shirts. I haven’t yet seen what they look like with a red base layer, but ‘Captain Pasky’ assures me that they looked great when the 1st’s wore them! Their Pantomime also played out before the game with Terri starring as ‘The Sleeping Beauty’ having to be woken up – not by a Handsome Prince but by a call from Captain Amy asking where she was! There was some speculation that Ronald McDonald was involved somewhere – apparently he lives close by Terri’s and may have inspired her performance as when she got to the game, she proceeded to score twice! What do they put in those burgers nowadays?
A brilliant performance by the 2’s who now move up to 3rd in their division. Keep moving up!!
Thanks to Ann C-M for the ‘heads up’ on completing her match report – no competition from Paul this week though!

Oh, and GOOD LUCK to Jazzer, who was off to London to start her Training later on Saturday. Hope you didn't get stuck on the circle line??
