As we head closer towards Christmas here is some information to keep you up to date on all the comings and goings in Newark Hockey Club...

From the Chairman A warm (delayed) welcome to the 2016/17 season. It's great to see everyone back playing hockey after the summer and the wonderful Olympics & Paralympics. It was great to see “our” very own Gold medallist, Shona McCallin, earlier in the month. Shona started her career with us at Newark, as one of Mrs Fergusson’s girls. Shona is a great ambassador for the sport and put the juniors through their paces – and showed off her gold bling! We hope to see her again soon. Keep an eye on the Facebook page and our new website for more updates. We’ve sometimes had a tough time getting full teams out week in, week out and I thank all the captains/vice-captains and coaches for their dedication and sometimes patience!! Please make sure you let your captain know – preferably using Teamer– when you are and are not available. Finally, many thanks to Hannah from Coe Media for the work on the website - we hope you like it.
Kit – on sale on Sunday 11 December We apologise for the delay as we know lots of you want to buy kit. But we are now ready. We are working with Steve at Mad Dog Sports, who are based in West Bridgford. Steve has attended our Club Open Day for the past two years and we have built up a good working relationship with him. Steve will be at the Magnus on Sunday 11 December with samples to try on for size. You will be able to order the kit and it should (fingers crossed) be ready for Christmas. You can view the kit and place your order online here.
Sponsorship Newark Hockey Club is looking for sponsorship. We have secured sponsorship from The Turquoise Teapot for the coaches to have new jackets, the Ladies 1s from Bingham Ground Services and the Ladies 2s from Simms Metal Management. If your company is interested in sponsorship then we have a range of packages available from kit and equipment, through to team support and club wide investment. We would love to hear from you - email secretary@newarkhockeyclub.com for more details. In return you could see your logo or name on team hoodies, links to your website from ours and mentions in match reports and press releases.
Annual Registration and Payments The club has moved to a new online system for registration. If you have not registered yet please do so at the earliest opportunity. You may not be insured to play. Click on this link for the Registration Form. First Aid courses We are looking to host a first aid course in January 2017 for coaches, captains and anyone else who is interested. More information to follow.
Training / Pitch Closures During half term the pitch was closed and we have been working with the Magnus School to get the pitch deep cleaned and repaired. The lights were also repaired at this time. We are in constant communication with the school regarding free slots with the hope of moving away from training at such a late time but for now we are unable to move. Last night, Wednesday 7 December was the last Wednesday training session. And we return on Wednesday 4 January. The last training on Sundays will be Sunday 18 December and returning on Sunday 8 January.
From all at Newark Hockey Club we hope that you and your family have a wonderful Christmas and New Year. Newark Hockey Club Committee
