Newark HC Announce New Coaching Lineup

Paul Halfpenny & Amo Soar

Newark Hockey Club is proud to announce their new coaching line up for the 2017-18 season.

Following three promotions last season, the club has taken steps to continue strength the coaching team with the appointment of Amo Soar as Ladies 1s coach. A Level 3 Coach, Soar will train the Ladies 1s and 2s on Wednesdays and travel with the 1s on match days.

Arran Coggan, Chairman of Newark HC said “We are extremely pleased Amo has joined the club. He has coached in the National League and has worked with many mens and ladies teams with great success.

“Amo brings with him a wealth of experience of coaching as well as volunteering at the London and Rio Olympics, Glasgow Commonwealth Games and recently the Hockey World League. We all want to see continued success for Newark HC and following promotion last year of the Ladies 1s, we wish Amo every success as the team seek to retain their status in Midlands hockey.”

The club is also pleased that Paul Halfpenny continues as Mens 1s coach, and he will be working hard to sustain the teams position in their new league following promotion last year. The Mens 2s will also benefit from working with Halfpenny and Glynn Willis, a former Mens 1s goalkeeper.

The Mens 3s will be coached by Holly Brown, also a former player who re-joined the club last year. Whilst Halfpenny will coach the Ladies 3s, the third team to gain promotion at the end of last season, working closely with his wife, Sally, who returns to the club to support the Ladies 4s team.

Newark HC welcome new and existing hockey players from aged 5 and upwards. The adult teams (13 years+) train and play at the Magnus Community Sports Centre on Wednesday evening between 7pm-10pm, with matches on Saturdays. Junior training (5-18 year olds) is available on Sunday mornings between 9am-12pm.
