Ladies 1s vs Ashby 2s (friendly)

After a long Christmas break Newark soon bounced back into action and had a strong first half against Ashby, keeping possession of the ball well and keeping the opposition away from the Newark defence.  The hard work soon paid off and Dani Ashwell put away a goal for the visitors making it 1-0 at half time.  The second half was even stronger for Newark with goals from Sarah Pask and Shanade Bradley making it 3-0 at full time.  It was a great run out for Newark who are looking forward to getting back to the league on the 2nd Feb.

Ladies 3s v West Bridgford

It was a must win game for the ladies 3s in order to stay in the Championship league, but after a poor first half, Newark were 1-0 down, despite having several chances on goal in the attacking half.  In the 2nd half the team sprung back into action, moving the ball around the pitch well and gaining a number of penalty corners which were well coordinated, although kept out of the goal by a strong W Bridgford goalie.  The opposition soon managed to break the Newark defence, scoring twice in quick succession.  A goal from Zoe White gave Newark some hope of pulling back some points but it was too little too late. Full time score 3-1 to West Bridgford.

Ladies 4s – match cancelled due to frost

Men’s 1s v Boots 3’s

Two early goals put Boots ahead in the first half, but Newark managed to regain composure and fight back, goals from Stevie Littlewood and Kian Hunter meant the team drew 2-2.  Man of the match – Sam Smith and Kian Hunter

Men’s 3s v West Bridgford 7s

After a tough season for the 3’s, it was a welcome 0-0 draw this week for the team against West Bridgford.  A great effort from the whole team, especially the younger players.  Man of the match – Ciaran Logue and Seb.
