JUNIOR DIVISION NEWSLETTER – AUGUST 2022
We are all looking forward to the new season and especially getting to play on our new pitch. Feedback from those who have already played on it is very positive. Below is your guide to the new season – we have a lot to share with you!
THE SEASON STARTS AGAIN ON 4th SEPTEMBER – see below for the plans to welcome you back.
You should have received emails regarding re-registering your child for the new season. The club has moved to a new system called Teamo which has much better functionality than the previous systems. Please ensure your child is registered with the club asap and please install the Teamo App as it will be used for communication to squads and team selection. If you need help or have any questions, Simon (treasurer) and Mel (club membership secretary) will be on hand between 10-11am on 4th September to assist.

Membership fees and Subs
We have kept the membership fee the same again. The annual fees are £83 per child. This can be paid as a one-off, two half-season payments or monthly. Those with one or more family member playing are entitled to 20% family discount (£66.40). We request you pay annual subs via BACs and inform the club treasurer when you have done so (firstname.lastname@example.org).
If you would prefer to pay £4 weekly, please pre-book and pay for sessions online via the club website: “book training”. We would prefer not to be handling money on Sunday mornings.
The club is mindful of the current economic pressures on households so please talk to us if you are concerned about managing hockey costs.
4th September: WELCOME BACK & “HELLO” NEW PITCH
We hope as many of you as possible can come along on Sunday 4 th September. We plan to have two separate sessions which will be free of charge:
U16s & U14s 9am-10.30am.
U12s & U10s 10.30am-12pm and U8s 10.30-11.30am
We will mix players into teams and there will be a series of hockey related games/challenges to achieve, finishing with small pitch matches. However, this time we are inviting a parent to partner with their child. There is no expectation, but if you would like to join in, please do. To keep everyone safe we have some do’s & don’ts:
● DO pre-book your child (no need to pay) via the club website ‘book training’
● DO email email@example.com to let us know if you (parent) are participating and whether you need to borrow a stick.
● DO make sure all players are wearing shin pads and U18s must wear gum shields – we encourage parents to wear gum shields too
● DO be aware that parents play at their own risk. We will do all we can to ensure the activities are safe.
● DON’T hit the ball (push passes/shots only); DON’T lift the stick above waist; DON’T lift the ball above shin pad height. These rules apply to juniors too.
● DO enjoy and ensure those around you are also having fun.
N.B. For the second session we would like GKs to play outfield – this is for safety reasons.

We welcome our new coaches, Hannah (who is also the ladies club captain), Claire and Will. They, and Charlie, have completed hockey coaching courses over the summer and are raring to get started.
If you have any questions or concerns on a Sunday, please speak with either Tim Burch. If your concern is a welfare matter, look for Jan Timmermans in his hi-viz tabard!
